Guillaume Bélanger-Chabot
Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Université Laval
Guillaume was born in Lévis, Québec in 1984. After a B.Sc in chemistry at Université Laval, he did an M.Sc in organometallic chemistry with Frédéric-Georges Fontaine, where he worked at developing the combined chemistry of bora- and boratabenzenes with phospholes and phospholyls. He then went on to do a PhD at the University of Southern California under Karl Christe. During his time in Los Angeles, he worked on boron-based energetic materials and small molecule-based monopropellants. In 2015, he worked with François Gabbaï at Texas A&M as a postdoctoral research associate, during which time he worked on antimony-based Lewis acids and on the fluoride-mediated reduction of naphthalenediimides. In 2016, he joined the group of Holger Braunschweig at the University of Würzburg as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow. During his time in Germany, he worked on boron-polynitrogen chemistry and diborane chemistry. Since December 2019, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry of Université Laval.
